Must See Courtyard Design Ideas
Do you remember playing with legos as a kid? How you could create many different models with the same legos, well that is how all these patios were assembled. These beautiful patios were created using Allan Blocks that work just like legos. Using only four styles of blocks that are from the Courtyard Collection, you can create your own custom patio. The four blocks are Dublin, York, Corner, and Wall Caps. The Dublin and the York have raised rings that work just like legos. Simply stack the blocks to connect blocks together. You can use all Dublin blocks or all York blocks or Dublin and York blocks together to create walls. To build columns just use corner blocks and alternate in placement.
1. Courtyard with columns
The great thing about the AB courtyard is that it can be assembled on pavers or gravel. Foundation has to be sturdy and even and you are ready to go. This courtyard has both Dublin and York blocks for the walls with corner blocks for columns. This simple yet classic look with just two walls adds character to your backyard.
2. Courtyard with a fire pit
Incorporate some landscaping with your courtyard. The walls serve as both retaining walls and a planter. This small courtyard also has a fire pit that has been built using York blocks only to allow for curved walls.
3. Courtyard in the patio
Adding a courtyard to your patio really makes it stand out. Why make straight walls when you can add some curves to make the walls unique. The walls help to add some sense of enclosure to the patio for extra style.
4. Courtyard with half circle fire pit
Have a small area and want a fire pit? Do not worry. Make a half circle fire pit. The small walls are short but go a long way when making a great hang out spot at the courtyard.
5. Courtyard with different heights in columns
Change the look of a courtyard walls by adding rows for height on some columns. You can also make modifications to the columns by adding light fixtures. Now you can use your courtyard in daylight and nighttime.
6. Old Country Courtyard with curved wall
The Old Country Courtyard collection is the same as the classic courtyard collection but the blocks are tumbled and give it that old country look. The fire pit has been built with York blocks. This long curved wall with no columns also serves as additional seating areas.
7. Courtyard with fences
Add some sense of enclosure to your courtyard by adding fencing to the walls. Sure the walls are not tall but fencing does add more enclosure and keeps people from sitting on the walls.
8. Courtyard with benches
This courtyard is very creative! The columns are wider at the bottom to allow for a bench or more to be installed. That way there is no need to add furniture that can get damaged with weather.
Go an extra step and add posts and a roof. Hard to disagree that this a great hang out place after a long day.
9. Courtyard with walls with slight curves and columns
Make slight curves to areas that you do not want to remove or just need to go around. Use York blocks only when making curves.
10. Courtyard with BBQ
Who does not like to hang out by the BBQ grill as food is grilling? Add your BBQ to your courtyard and incorporate it to the courtyard. Plus the blocks make your grill look expensive, unique and uniform with the walls.
Add some lighting to the columns so that the courtyard can be lit during the nights as you grill.
11. Courtyard with long seating wall
This long seating area by the fire pit is perfect for large gatherings. Again no need to worry about buying furniture that can get damaged with weather. The top is not part of the courtyard collection but you can see that you are not limited to using the courtyard caps. The caps are made out of concrete. With concrete you can choice any color to match your like.
12. Courtyard with embedded fire pit within walls
Add a narrow fire pit within two walls of the courtyard. This is also a great option for small backyards. You can also add fencing like this picture to allows for vines to grow and make beautiful green walls.
